Dear Pastor and Friends in
Christ,
T.J. Bach, missionary to
Venezuela, wrote, The things that really count are the things we cannot
count. During the last several months, God has been working in some
extraordinary ways:
Family news
As I mentioned in our last letter, Cyndi and the kids are currently in the
States so that Joy can attend Massillon Baptist College. They have been in a
number of supporting churches in the area representing our ministry through
music and a power point presentation by Caleb. I will be joining them over the
holidays for seven weeks, we have four men in the church who will be preaching
for me. While being apart is difficult, we felt that it was important for Joy to
take the next step in her Christian life.
Territory Baptist Church
Our folks have really stepped up in their consistency and commitment to the work
here in the Top End of Australia. A young girl, Arlya is learning a new hymn
each week to play in church. Maria and John have committed themselves to help
with special music (piano and cello) and John will lead singing while I am away.
The ladies of the church have taken over cuppa, an Australian tradition of
having a cup of tea and biscuit (cookie) after services. Our men have stepped
forward in their willingness to set up for church, lead the services, take care
of the offerings, preach, and clean up after the services. We are truly grateful
for the people God has given us!
Family camp
- I have just returned from speaking
at a family camp in Western Australia. There were about 100 campers and they
were very receptive to God's Word with quite a number of them making commitments
to the Lord.
Urapunga
We have just began ministering in the small Aboriginal community of Urapunga,
it is about a seven hour drive from Darwin with one major river crossing (the
Roper River). Please pray for us (myself and two young men from the church) as
we travel and present the gospel there. On our last visit the entire community
came to see our object lessons (gospel magic). Our next visit is November 3-5.
Also, pray that God will open the door to other communities for us to minister
in.
If you are in the Ohio area
and would like Cyndi and the kids to come to your church to play their
instruments (piano, violins, flute, double bass and guitar) you can contact her
at cyndi.chapman@hotmail.com
As a final note, please pray
for Caleb as he will be having knee surgery in the near future. In his last
rugby game in Australia he scored his first try and injured his knee, he has
since re-injured it playing soccer in the States. Also, pray for Faith as she
may be coming back with me to Australia in January.
Sincerely in Christ,
Kenneth Chapman
For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
